He Said Every Need Supplied

Everyone has their favorite song that the choir sings on Sunday mornings. I think there is one song that pops into everyone's head at my church. Although it was a very special song to begin with, it gained an entirely different meaning last year. The song is, "Every Need Supplied" and it means to us exactly what it says. The song wasn't new, but until June of 2002, I never really heard the words of the song.

In February of last year a group of people began meeting at the small community center in our town. Nobody knew how the turn out would be, but long before the service began the building was full and overflowing. Everyone felt the presence of the Lord. As the group continued to meet, the group continued to grow. It was evident that we all wanted to do God's will, but one night the phone rang. The community center's Board of Directors had decided that we could no longer meet to worship in the community building. As upset as we were, nobody gave up hope. Each night we prayed that God would supply us with a place to meet and worship. We were allowed to hold services just two more times after we received the call, but God would supply our need.

The local high school agreed to allow us to rent the school's auditorium to hold our services on Sunday mornings and Wednesday nights. The love continued to grow, and the Lord's hand continued to move. While meeting at the school we were able to begin having Sunday school classes for the children and holding youth clubs on Wednesday nights. It was such a blessing as we grew closer and decided to begin our own church. Plans came into the making as we decided to build a church building, but it would take lots of time. While we searched around for buildings and plans for a church, we voted on a name. Faith Baptist would be our name.

It took faith to get us where we were, and it would take faith to get us where we felt God wanted us to go. We also voted on a pastor that would lead us as we followed God's will. Everything was looking up, but one night we received another call. This time the Board of Education had decided we could no longer meet at the school while waiting to find a building. We didn't panic, but instead we continued to search and pray that God would supply our need.

We were a church with a pastor and a desire to serve, but nowhere to meet. Each day we searched the papers, drove around looking for church buildings for sale, and sat by the phone waiting for a realtor to call. We were allowed to meet at the school for a few more weeks and just as our time ran out, God supplied our need! The old Wesleyan Church building was up for sale and available. God supplied the money and soon we had a building to meet in. The first time we walked through the doors we were shocked at everything that had been left in the building. Tables, chairs, Christmas decorations, everything had been given to us along with the building. Everything we needed was right there. God had supplied EVERY need and more. On June 2, 2002 , Faith Baptist Church was chartered. We went from a group of people just wanting to serve the Lord, to a new church ready and seeking to do God's will.

Now that our church is beginning to grow our choir sings 'Every Need Supplied' with a new light about their faces. There's suddenly a new meaning behind the words and as the song says, 'He just said that He would supply!'

Thank you for allowing me to introduce you to Faith Baptist Church .
